While our initial focus was electricity, over the years, as the world has tapped into many more energy sources, EDAA’s function has broadened to cover all stages of the energy supply chain, from generation right through to appliances used in family homes.

History
EDAA was founded in 1970 to promote the safe and efficient use of electricity.
The association then known as EDAQ (Electricity Development Association Queensland) was the brainchild of a former Commissioner for Electricity in Queensland, Neil Smith.
The association’s activities were well known and included:
- The famous Trade Trains that travelled across Queensland
- Exhibitions - Commercial Cooking, ElectriCook and Telegraph Home Show
- South Pacific Electrical Conferences (SPEC)
